"Great views and great lunch"

  • ocean view
  • Food: American
  • Decor: Malibu Beach - great views during the day and at sunset
  • Service: Good
  • Cost: $$$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Good

Overview:

I loved this place - we grabbed coffee to go for a walk down Carbon Beach and look at all of the celebrity and billionaire homes. Then we went back and sat out on the deck and had a great lunch. Grilled calamari to start that was cooked perfectly. A daily chopped salad served with Ono that was also cooked very well. And the bagel with salmon and cream cheese, another good choice (they were still serving the breakfast menu too).

I wish I could repeat that process every day!

Special Dishes:

grilled calamari, chopped salad with ono, bagel and salmon

"Nobu on the beach"

  • Food: Japanese, sushi
  • Decor: Contemporary high end beach restaurant
  • Service: Great
  • Cost: $$$$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Great - lychee elderflower martini is my favorite

Overview:

This place is incredible. The design of the place is beautiful, same feel as the last location, but it sits right on the water and it has some incredible outdoor dining space.

The bar was also very fun and lively.

We did the Omakase and we loved everything. My favorites are still the yellowtail with jalepeno and the spicy scallop roll so we made sure we had those added to the order. The unfiltered sake they offer is always a great choice.

I could easily eat here every night!!

Special Dishes:

yellowtail with jalepeno and spicy scallop roll, omakase

"Best place for brunch"

  • Brunch
  • Food: American, comfort
  • Decor: rustic with great music and ocean views
  • Service: Great service
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Great craft cocktails

Overview:

I keep meaning to try another meal here but I am so obsessed with their brunch that I hate to miss it when I am in town!

It is hard to go wrong with this menu. This time we had the mo-pho-ito as a drink to start, very refreshing, the bacon was out of this world, the duck egg with polenta and bean was excellent, hash and eggs benedict (on their famous biscuits) are the best, fried chicken with truffle oil - what else can you say! The finale included the spiced hand pies, apple, and I loved them.

I am dying to check out the new fish place that Chef David is opening up next door soon.

Special Dishes:

I have been coming here since I was a little kid and it's a tradition for my parents when they were young as well! Antonio's opened in 1957 and has always served the most amazing Italian food I've ever tasted. It's completely affordable too! The meatball crumbles on the pizza are to die for and the service is always amazing. Definitely work making a part of your family tradition as well.

"Sunny Side Up"

  • Food:
  • Decor:
  • Service:
  • Cost: $$$
  • Wine / Cocktails:

Overview:

Gjelina is a the name that jumps off everyone’s tongue when you ask about restaurants in Los Angeles. On hip Abbot Kinney in Venice, they are a little too cool for school, but the food is warm and inviting. Either way, the Sunny Duck Egg will brighten up your brunch.

"I'm in love!!"

  • Food: American
  • Decor: Contemporary
  • Service: Excellent
  • Cost: $$$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Great craft cocktails

Overview:

We had an amazing brunch at MB Post. We started with two of the handcrafted cocktails which were both enjoyed. The dishes are to be shared and they recommended 2 per person.

We started with the cheddar bacon biscuits which were incredible, the eggs benedict with prosciutto and arugula was served on the cheddar bacon biscuits and it was outstanding. I don't even care for arugula but it was our favorite dish!

We had the steak and eggs and chimichanga, both great options. The citrus salad was simple and tasty. We finished with the French toast which was perfect because it felt like we had dessert.

The service was excellent and the atmosphere is great. I can't wait to go back and try dinner. I could eat here all the time!!

Special Dishes:

Bacon cheddar biscuits, citrus salad, eggs benedict, steak and eggs, chimichanga, French toast

"Bay Cities for BEST sandwich
in LA!!!"

  • Deli
  • Market
  • Italian
  • Food: Italian, Sandwiches, Deli
  • Decor: Deli
  • Service:
  • Cost: $
  • Wine / Cocktails:

Overview:

Where do I begin, Bay Cities is AMAZING! It was love at first bite. Two words, The Godmother. This sandwich is a pretty traditional Italian sandwich and you have to get it with "the works" extra spicy. The lines are always long, but its worth the wait. All of the sides are fresh and delicious as well. Besides the amazing deli - Bay Cities has a great selection of imported Italian groceries. I'm talking cheese, chocolate, wine. This little gem in Santa Monica is a MUST try! You won't be disappointed.

Special Dishes:

The Godmother, Antipasta

"Gjelina for a Good Time"

  • Food: Italian
  • Decor: Clean, Dark
  • Service: Great
  • Cost: $$$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Great wine, cocktail selection

Overview:

After hearing about this trendy eatery on Abbot Kinney in Venice I had to try it for myself. Getting a reservation is usually difficult, but my experience was pretty good. The food and wine is superb. I recommend trying a bunch of small plates because honestly, everything we had was delicious! My favorite dish had to be the grilled nectarine & burrata cheese. The mushroom pizza, fresh oysters, quail w/ pomegranate are all amazing too. I've had brunch and dinner here and definitely prefer dinner. The restaurant is dark, trendy and can be loud but its lovely overall. I was not dissappointed. Bon ape tit - one of my favorite places in LA.

Special Dishes:

Grilled Nectarine & Burrata, Mushroom Pizza, Fresh Oysters

"Cereal martinis are no longer
accidental."

  • Brunch
  • Cereal Martinis
  • Food: Delicious!
  • Decor:
  • Service:
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails:

Overview:

Thanks to my days of watching Full House religiously I learned two very important life lessons. Aside from the importance of having good hair, I learned the importance of good cereal. For those of you that have ever mistaken the 2% for a bottle of Ciroc after a long night out fear not, now people are doing it on purpose. Mr. Tanner may say that fruit loops have no business vacationing in vodka, but Lola’s brunch menu says otherwise. Not only will you be fawning over their eggs florentine, but also introducing cereal to your martini glass. A match made in breakfast heaven.

Special Dishes:

Eggs florentine, Cereal Martinis

"Cheesy Wonderment, order up!"

  • gourmet
  • grilled cheese
  • quick
  • Food: Gourmet grilled cheese
  • Decor:
  • Service:
  • Cost: $
  • Wine / Cocktails:

Overview:

Statistically I crave cheese 75% of every day and now my prayers have been answered. I will rest assured knowing that my friends in California have access to this late night grilled cheese shoppe, Heywood. After browsing the sandwiches it became obvious where I would invest my appetite, one Muy Caliente please. For those of you who haven’t memorized the menu yet let me fill you in on the best grilled cheese EVER. On a bed of sourdough my two amigos Spicy Jack and Fontina are melted on top of sliced jalapenos then blanketed with fresh cream cheese and crunchy tortilla chips. I also hear their S’mores bar will send you straight onto cloud 9. Yes, that’s real life.

Special Dishes:

Muy Caliente
